Equip Your Team with Essential Crisis Support Skills

Are you prepared to support your team in the critical moments following a traumatic event? Our Psychological First Aid (PFA) Training provides the knowledge and skills needed to offer immediate emotional and practical support when it's needed most.

What is Psychological First Aid (PFA)?

Psychological First Aid (PFA) is a compassionate, evidence-based approach designed to help individuals in the immediate aftermath of traumatic incidents. It focuses on reducing distress, promoting coping strategies, and connecting individuals to appropriate support systems. PFA is not formal counselling or therapy—it’s practical support provided by trained individuals who are there to help others feel safe, supported, and empowered.

Why Choose Our PFA Training?

As an accredited Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) Instructor, our PFA training is designed to complement existing mental health support systems. We provide tailored, practical guidance to help your team respond effectively to:

  • Workplace accidents and injuries

  • Community or workplace traumas

  • High-stress situations impacting employees

  • Information Gathering: Identifying individuals’ needs and concerns to provide appropriate support.

  • Practical Assistance: Offering immediate help and guidance.

  • Connecting to Support: Linking individuals with ongoing resources and professional care if needed.

  • Encouraging Coping Strategies: Promoting resilience and recovery through practical tools and advice.

Information About Your Training Needs

Understanding the Differences: MHFA, PFA and Peer Support

Unsure what training you need?

  • Mental Health First Aid (MHFA): Focuses on recognising the signs and symptoms of mental health issues such as anxiety, depression, psychosis, and substance use disorders. MHFA teaches participants how to provide initial support, guide individuals towards professional help, and respond to mental health crises like suicidal thoughts or panic attacks. It’s structured to address both acute crises and ongoing mental health conditions.

  • Psychological First Aid (PFA): Designed to provide immediate, short-term support in the aftermath of a traumatic event or crisis. PFA focuses on promoting safety, calming individuals, providing information, connecting them to resources, and encouraging coping strategies. It is intended as practical support, not formal counseling or treatment, and is generally used by frontline workers or peers responding to emergencies.

  • Peer Support: Involves providing empathetic, non-professional support to individuals experiencing stress or challenges. It emphasises active listening, emotional support, shared experiences, and practical assistance. Peer Support is ongoing and relationship-based, fostering resilience and connection within teams or communities. Unlike PFA, it is not limited to immediate crisis response but supports individuals through longer-term challenges.
